2019 Election: How Nicholas Felix, PCP presidential aspirant beat Sowore, Moghalu
The 2019 presidential election – won by incumbent president Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressive Congress (APC) after defeating his closest rival, Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) – recorded the highest number of political parties (73 in total), and of these political parties is Nicholas Felix’s People’s Coalition Party.
Felix came third in the presidential poll to beat the well-known youth favourites; Kingsley Moghalu of the Young People’s Party (YPP), Fela Durotoye of the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN) and Omoyele Sowore of African Action Congress (AAC). It’s a shock. Considering how popular these favourites were, prior to the election.
Fela garnered 16, 779 votes, Moghalu raked in 21, 886 votes, while Sowore could only make do with just 33, 953 votes.
To get acquainted with Felix, a quick click on search engine, Google, shows that he is a native of Esan in Edo State, but based in the United States. The search further shows that he is a pastor, life coach, philanthropist, tv host, an author and most importantly, a successful businessman born into the family of Elder Felix and Pastor Mrs. Maria Uagbor.
He is the Chief Executive Officer of Victory Security Company, Zoe Homecare Agency, Fresh Cleaning Services, Adiel Real Estate & Development Company LLC. & COO of ElDad Group of Companies Inc.
Reportedly, Felix created jobs for over 450 persons in four years.
Felix and his church, Miracle Center International, got featured on NY1 News and other media outlets in the United States, after donating free gas and bottled water to the New York City community in 2015.
Felix, who holds an Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from Federal Polythenic, Auchi, Edo State, emerged as the presidential candidate of PCP some months ago, noted that the essence of him contesting is to address the issue of insecurity in the nation.
Prior to the elections, the PCP flagbearer cut an obscure figure to people that the Sowores and Moghalus are some unsurmountable persons ahead of him in the presidential race, but through the final results announced by INEC, he has shown to these people that, with zeal and resilience like President Buhari who started his charge at the presidency in 2002, he can achieve an unprecedented feat by someone with an outside chance.
Did PDP influence Felix’s PCP chances at the poll?
Yes! Sorry, this is not the political party on the ballot paper. The acronyms might be a little similar, but no! Acronym don’t really mean so much for elites and staunch supporters of political parties.
So for Felix, it might just be one more step. Another step before one more step.
